The EARN Forum’s dedicated volunteers played noteworthy role in representing the organization at a remarkable alumni event held at the Hungarian Embassy in Abuja on Friday, the 1st of September 2023. The event, graciously hosted by the dynamic acting ambassador of Hungary in Nigeria, offered an ideal setting for fostering connections and social interactions among the participants.

The day’s activities featured engaging group quiz sessions, with attendees organized into groups of at least three members. The quiz which started at 10:00 AM covered a wide range of topics, testing participants’ knowledge of global peoples, places, and cultures, with a significant focus on questions related to Nigeria, Africa, Hungary, and Europe. The Quiz master, Szegedi Imre, and his team did an exceptional job in curating thought-provoking quiz questions.

Here are some noteworthy highlights from the Quiz Session:

  • Did you know that 23 thousand people have received the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship?
  • Surprisingly, North Korea operates the world’s shortest calendar system, spanning only 112 years!
  • Have you explored the rich world of Hungarian delicacies? Notably, Goulash Soup, the Hungarian beef stew, left a lasting impression.
  • Did you know that Aso Rock stands taller than the Zuma Rock? This fact about natural peaks and rocks surprised many.
  • In the realm of men’s football, Hungary secured an Olympic Gold medal in 1968, while Nigeria clinched the same honor in 1996.

The champions of the quiz competition were none other than “Team Awesomes”! Congratulations to this victorious team, and it’s worth noting that the Founder of the Executive Ambassadors and Representatives Network was part of the winning squad, undoubtedly benefiting from their experiences as a student in Budapest, Hungary.

Following the quiz competition, a delectable lunch was served, featuring a delightful fusion of Nigerian and Hungarian dishes. Nigerian Jollof rice graced the menu alongside white rice, introducing some attendees to the flavorful Hungarian Goulash stew for the first time.

The event served as an enriching experience for networking and forging valuable business relationships. Despite not being officially launched yet, EARN made history within the community by providing volunteers and EARN Forum’s leader with the opportunity to connect with esteemed dignitaries, business leaders, and both past and present government officials. Renowned vocalist and songwriter, Chris Ade, a dedicated EARN Forum volunteer, graced the occasion with a heartfelt rendition of “Great Nation” by Timi Dakolo.

This event marked the beginning of an exciting journey for EARN Forum members, offering just a glimpse of the opportunities and activities they can anticipate throughout the year. The program left volunteers with a profound sense of purpose, positioning them at the forefront of connecting diplomats and executives with local communities.

The day concluded with a board room meeting, where EARN Forum volunteers had the privilege of engaging with the Acting Ambassador. He commended the EARN founder for the remarkable progress achieved in developing the Forum since their last discussion. Dr. Gabor Krusc, the Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the dedicated work of EARN Forum team members and their leader. He encouraged the team to persevere and work strategically in pursuit of the organization’s goals, notwithstanding the challenges and high expectations in achieving its aims and objectives.

Moreover, we are thrilled to announce a forthcoming collaboration between the EARN forum and the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja for the New Ambassador Welcome party. This exciting partnership was formalized during a meeting held in the conference hall with the Deputy Ambassador, Dr. Gabor Krucs. These discussions culminated in a mutual agreement between the Embassy and our forum to jointly host and organize this event. The timing couldn’t be more perfect as the New Ambassador is expected to arrive in just a few weeks’ time.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to foster familiarity, build valuable business relationships, and encourage meaningful collaborations between the New Ambassador, the Embassy of Hungary, and the EARN forum, including its humanitarian projects. This event promises to be a remarkable opportunity for dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of ideas, strengthening the bonds between these entities and promoting shared endeavors that benefit our communities and society at large.

This partnership signifies a significant step forward in promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation, and it underscores the commitment of the EARN forum and the Embassy of Hungary in Abuja to working together for the betterment of all stakeholders involved. We eagerly anticipate the arrival of the New Ambassador and the exciting possibilities that this collaboration will bring to fruition in the near future.
